Man today was a spanking 48-0 game! I wish it was us on the winning end of that game though. Yes folks we started the season on a horrible foot. The Steelers killed us, but I hope that we walked away from that game with a lesson. If we do, then I have no regrets.
In my last blog I mentioned how I had to come down on the team last Tuesday for not taking practice seriously, this Saturday the Steelers came down on them with that same message. The Steelers played well and very textbook, it was very impressive to watch. They knew their plays and their positions as individuals and that translated into great team ball. I truly commend their coaches because they are picking off right where they left off last fall. Talent wise I think we had faster kids over all but because the Steelers had their stuff together it was hard to tell.
I also mentioned in my last blog that this was going to be a work in progress season for us and this game made that clear. This Tuesday’s practice will be all about going back to the basics and starting from there.
This was a very emotional game for me because my kids are a much better team then what the score showed. We all started the game a little slow because there was so much mud on the field, but once I started to ignore it the kids followed suite. That just made me realize that I need to watch how I am during the games because the kids feed off of that.
Well; one game is down on the books and we are 0-1, I will not worry about it because I have full confidence that we will be a better team next week. We are moving on because I truly believe that as a team the kids learned something today and what they learned was the importance of practice.
It’s also clear that I will have to get tough on these kids this season, but at the same time build their confidence in themselves and in each other. Until next week, see ya!
I always liked these blogs. To bad for the 1st game of the season, but if I remember from a couple of seasons ago it took losing the 1st game for the kids to get serious and buckle down. Looking forward to 2007. Keep posting.

Hey Shane good to hear from ya. This season's team is much different then before. I don't think they'll respond to losing as before. Me and the rest of the coaches will have to make the adjustment to help this team. But I do believe they are a great group of kids.
